Segito
Segito
Update, Nov 1st 2011
We started Segito in September 2010 during our undergrad years in Mumbai. Our mission was to educate 1 million differently-abled & special needs individuals using low cost technology.
We built 'Braille Tutor' a self-paced device for visually impaired & blind individuals to study braille language without the need of a human tutor. We received several grants & investment support; we built the technology using piezoelectric sensors; in lowest possible costs.
However, we failed during commercialisation of the technology. Despite building the product on a shoe-string budget; the price per product with 'zero' gross margin was still 2-3X higher than paying capacity / allotted learning budget for visually impaired & blind individuals.
As young engineers; we could not do justice to the mission we started. Hence, we have decided to take a pause on our product efforts as on October 2011. Past 13 months have been the most disruptive years of our lives; may be in near future, we plan to resume & complete what we started as young minds.
Regards,
Segito Team
Gratitude to our supporters; we could not have started our journey without them.Â
